Week 34

Week in Review:
This week, Mr. Skocko was out for meeting and other things that he was involved in to make things better for the students of Valhalla. We had a sub for 4 days this week, Thursday - Friday. We also had 2 guest speakers that were from different art colleges (Platt College and Academy of Arts University)around California.  These art colleges were mainly revolved around graphic design and digital artwork production. These colleges were pretty interesting to me, and the presentations definitely make me think about possible colleges I could attend in the future. For me, I would really like to attend a college that has a graphic design class or video game development classes. Besides the guest speakers and presentations, I started doing some photo manipulation as seen above. This is very fun for me and involves a lot of work and time to get the result you want.

Week 34 Self-Assessment:
This week I worked a lot on my projects and I listened and payed attention to everything the guest speakers were saying in their presentations. I think that I deserve the "You gave it your all" grade (A) on our class rubric.

Self-Guided Learning:
This week I started to move away from Youtube tutorials and started to move towards photo manipulation. I worked all week and I am starting to really like the results of my project.

Week 34 Goal Reflection:
I did achieve my goal of moving away from Youtube tutorials to try out some of my own projects. I am really enjoying photo manipulation and I really hope to do more of it in the future.

Week 35 Goal:
Next week I hope to start another photo manipulation project and maybe even start doing even more advanced projects.

Week 33

Week in Review:

During this week, I started to poke around into Photo Manipulation. This is a very fun subject for me as you get to create your own photo using others (Compositing). I have just recently started on this project and I hope for it to be done by next week. A really great channel to follow that revolves around photo manipulation would be Arun Kumar on Youtube. His channel is very interesting and he has many photo manipulation projects.

Week 33 Self Assessment:
This week I worked hard on my photo manipulation project and I am also about to start working on a project using the 3d editor in Photoshop. I would give myself the "You gave it your all" (A) grade on our class rubric.

Self-Guided Learning:
All of my self guided learning from this week came from Youtube. I watched many different channels that had photo manipulation, but so far the most interesting to me has been Arun Kumar.

Week 33 Goal Reflection:
During this week, I did complete my goal of using the 3d editor in photoshop. The project above shows my latest work in the 3d editor. The 3d editor is very fun to use and there are many possibilities that come with it.

Week 34 Goal:
My goal for next week is to start moving away towards Youtube and to start creating some of my own projects using my skills and techniques. I would also like to start moving into more photo manipulation projects.

This poster is going to be used to advertise the Pops Concert, an award ceremony for music artists taking place at Shadow Mountain Church. When I wasn't working on this poster, I was working on finding more YouTube tips and tricks to enhance my overall Photoshop experience. The new channels I viewed this week on YouTube can be found here (Phlearn, Photoshop Tutorials, and Shadow Tutorials). Overall, this week consisted of a fun quest, and I also learned a lot more from YouTube.

This week I mainly worked on the Orange 380 quest. This quest was mainly about listing the names of the people who had a score of 380 or higher on the SAT Test. Once I finished that quest and poster I mainly started working on YouTube tutorials. These tutorials were revolved around Photoshop. The channels that I watched are found here (Spoon GraphicsPixovertBlue Lighting TV). This week was pretty interesting and I found many enjoyable projects.

Week 28

Week in Review:
This week I worked on the Antigone Poster Quest. This quest is very difficult because there is not a wide selection of backgrounds for this poster. I could not find a background so I resorted to making my own. The picture above is a work in progress of this poster. When I was not working on Antigone, I was working on YouTube tutorials. I figured out new skills that will help me create future projects. Overall, this week was pretty productive and I learned how to make better projects on Photoshop.

Week 27

Week in Review:
During this week, I gave the polygonal art another go. I used a method mentioned to me by Kyle Norris (MambaLegend). This method includes using Illustrator and creating paths to color each part of the original image. This method works a lot better and is a major improvement on the previous Photoshop method. Near the end of this week, I watched a few videos on Youtube about creating some interesting work on Photoshop. This work includes using different filters to make very cool wallpapers and images.

Week 27 Self Assessment:
I would give my self the "You gave it your all" grade on the rubric for this week. I was working everyday this week, learning new techniques and skills that will help me improve more from now into the future.

Self-Guided Learning:
I did not do much self guided learning this week. Near the week's end, I watched a few videos on Youtube about Photoshop tips and tricks.

Week 27 Reflection:
I did complete my goal that I set for this week. I ended up learning new skills and techniques on Youtube, and I revisited my polygonal art.

Week 28 Goal:
Next week, I really hope we receive more quests to do because there weren't that many that were appealing to me for this week. I also hope to learn even more skills and techniques for Photoshop.

Week 26

Week In Review:
For me this week was mainly focused around finishing the Kunstbar Video art list I have on my blog and revisiting the polygonal art I was working on last week. I am now completely done with it and I think it looks pretty good. This polygonal husky was a lot more fun and a lot simpler than the polygonal bird I did before. I used a different method than the previous gradient method I used. This method uses only Photoshop and its "Average" feature. This feature basically takes the colors from below the triangle and fills it. I think that this feature keeps the basic colors and makes it much simpler, but also makes it look a lot better. I will probably find more things to use for polygonal art and I will try to make another one by next week. Another thing I did for some time this week was look at some Motion Graphics on create.adobe.com. This website is full of interesting creations that people have made using Adobe's products and that have been submitted for us to see. I highly recommend watching Amazing Paper War under the Frame by Frame Section as this is one the most interesting and entertaining videos I have seen on that site.

Week 26 Self Assessment:
This week was pretty calm for me. I mainly just worked on my polygonal art and the Kunstbar Video. I honestly think I earned the "You gave it your all" grade on the rubric.

Self Guided Learning:
I did no self-guided learning during this past week.

Week 27 Goal:
Next week I really hope to learn more about Photoshop and how to make some really interesting projects. I may give the polygonal art another try, but this time using a different method shown to me by Kyle Norris (MambaLegend).

Week 25

Week Review
This week was a pretty entertaining week. My week was mainly focused around a video called Kunstbar, which basically means Artbar. We had a quest that followed this video called Art History Scavenger Hunt. This quest required us to identify famous works of art hidden in the video. This was a pretty fun and challenging quest and I really hope we get to experience more like it. This quest would of been much harder if I did not collaborate with my friend Kyle Norris (MambaLegend) and Connor Witherspoon (Spooner). They gave me help on finding the pieces of art and I also shared what I found with them. You can visit the page where I put all of my findings from the video here.

Self Assessment
This week I worked pretty hard on finding the pieces of art in the Kunstbar video. I honestly think I should receive the "You Gave It Your All" on our class rubric. I followed all instruction in the videos and quests and had a nice, calm, and hard working week in the MacLab.

Self Guided Learning
This week I was really focused on the Kunstbar video and didn't really put in the time to do any self guided work. Next week I will probably watch more videos on Lynda.com and will learn new techniques and skills.

Week 25 Goal Reflection
The goal I set for myself this week was to finish the polygonal art I was working on. I did complete my goal, but was not really satisfied with my results.

Week 26 Goal
My goal for next week is to continue to learn on Lynda.com and find some new interesting videos. I hope to work more with Illustrator next week and take another shot at my polygonal art.

Week 24

Week 24

This week was pretty crazy in the MacLab. The new Hunters and Healers has been very helpful for people, but has caused some problems in some periods. I was hunted myself, but thanks to Megan Wilson I will not be getting a bad grade in this class. She helped me fix my blog and gave me some ideas about how I can make it better. I personally like the idea of the new Hunters and Healers, and it has helped people improve their blogs to the best of their potential. Near the end of this week I worked on another Polygonal art design. I decided to do a husky which I will post the complete design of next week on my home page. This week was pretty crazy in the beginning, but near the end it was pretty relaxing. Next week I hope there are more projects to be completed and I hope I will finish my polygonal art.

Week 23

Week 23

This week I continued working on the Theatre Revue quest. To the left is my final design for my poster. I really think I did a good job on it and I really hope there are more quests like it. I got the image for my background from here. Most of this poster is made up of vectors that I got from a few different websites. You can find them here. I have not worked much on MyTour, but instead continued watching Lynda.com and explored the website more. The week ended off with us knowing about the new and improved "Hunters and Healers," which would be put into action on Monday.

Week 22

Week 22

During this week, we were introduced to the Theatre Revue quest. This quest required us to make a poster about Valhalla's play. In the poster we had a stage, sign, and other features to really make this poster pop. You can see my poster to the right. I compared/contrasted the old theatre style to the new theatre style. I have also been working on MyTour again. They did not like any of the logos we submitted before and we had to remake them. I didn't really get far on my work because it is not as easy as the previous requirements. Overall this week was full of work and I had fun working on the theatre poster. The image I used for this poster can be found here. The tickets vector used can be found here. The drama masks were a good addition to this poster. They can be found here. This is a fun project and I hope I will gain more ideas for this poster by next week. My goal is that next week I will finally complete my Valhalla Revue Poster.

Week 21

Week 21

Most of this week in the MacLab I have been watching logo making tutorials on Lynda.com. When I was not watching Lynda.com I was designing T-Shirts for Valhalla Cheer. These shirts were pretty fun to make and they required a lot of thinking to make everything right. We had to make two shirts, one for JV Cheer and one for V Cheer. Each shirt was a different color, but they each had the same design. Next week, I hope to learn more about logo design and shirt creation.

Week 20

Week 20
This week every student in the MacLab was required to buy a guild. I have already bought my guild a while ago so this does not apply to me. We were introduced to a quest called Medical Emergency. This was a quest about a math chart for the upcoming year. We had to redesign a math flow chart so that students could better understand the path they need to take through their math classes. This was a pretty difficult quest, as I needed to completely reconstruct the previous chart and make it into my own. This week we were also introduced to Lynda.com. This website has been pretty helpful as it provides many tutorials for different subjects. This week has been a week full of hard work and determination.

Week 19

Week 19

This week we were introduced to a few new quests. These quests include Mozart's Requiem, Alma Mater, and the Spring Poster. This week I mainly worked on the Mozart's Requiem quest. This was a quest designed for Mr. Infantino and his music department. It was supposed to consist of a dark theme due to the death of Mozart. This week was pretty interesting and I hope to do more quests like Mozart's Requiem

Week 18

Week 18

This week was the week of the finals. All we did this week was answer a quick survey about the MacLab and overall it was not that exciting. Next week I hope to get more projects to work on and to finish them as best I can.

Week 17

Week 17

This semester is nearing its end. We have about a week left of work before we prepare for finals. This week we mainly worked on T-Shirts for our theatre. These shirts involved working on kerning with type and having correct logo and quote placement. The shirts were fun to make, but were also pretty time consuming as it was difficult thinking of how to place certain things in certain places. We also worked on shirts for AVID. AVID means Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a class about how to plan for your college career. AVID helps you plan for college and help your get to your college goal. This week was interesting as it was my first time designing shirts and it was a challenge. I hope to have more weeks like this, but next time I will have an idea how to do it and I know I will enjoy it.

Week 16

Week 16

During this week we had many changes that occurred in the MacLab. The first major change was the removal of the weekly paychecks that team usually get at the end of the week. I really enjoyed having the weekly paychecks, but the new system we have in place is a good replacement. It is called daily bread, which can be found here.  The daily bread are rewards that we get at the end of working all period. When we purchase our daily bread we receive 30 gold and 60 experience. It may not seem like a lot, but over time it will rack up and we will gain plenty of gold and experience.  The main thing I worked on this week was the Revival Repair and Sonoma State Club Volleyball logo. These were fun quest, and they were revolved around making logos for clients that are in need of them. The first being a phone repair company called Revival Repair, and Sonoma State University. In conclusion, this week was pretty productive.

Week 15

Week 15

This week was pretty enjoyable. I had a lot of fun doing work for real world clients and loved making new logos for them. I also designed a new blog logo that expresses how much I really enjoy working in the MacLab. The most fun project that I did this week had to be Toni's Toys. Toni's toys was a logo we had to design that resembled the Toy Story theme. You can see my completed version to the left. Overall this week was very entertaining and very fun.

Week 14

Week 14

This week was pretty fun due to the fact that we got to work with code. We went on many coding websites including CodeCombat and this coding game website. I learned some basic coding skills during this week and I now have an idea of how coding looks like and how it functions. Overall, this week was fun and I learned a lot from it.

Week 13

Week 13

This week here in the MacLab was another one of those interesting weeks. We have actually moved our blogs to a new blogging website called Blogger. This blog website is a lot less simple than our previous one on Wordpress. It has a brand new layout and format that I am not fully used to. On the other hand Blogger gives us access to more possibilities and I am getting more used to using it every day. Thats really all that happened this week, but I know there will be a lot more happening very soon in the MacLab
